To every candidate who won on Tuesday: congratulations. You asked voters to trust you, and they did. That trust is the start of a job, not the end of a campaign, and we look forward to seeing what you do with it.

To the volunteers, donors, canvassers, phone bankers and first-time voters who made it happen: thank you. Elections are not won by candidates alone. They are won by people who show up, give what they can and keep going when the outcome is uncertain.

And for many races, the outcome is still uncertain. Ballots are still being counted in states that accept mail ballots after Election Day. Some margins are close enough to trigger recounts, and some races could head to runoffs. Every one of those steps costs money. Campaigns need lawyers to protect the count, staff to cure ballots and observers to watch the process. A candidate who finished their race on election night may still have bills to pay, debt to retire and a seat to defend in the weeks ahead.

That is why your support still matters today. A contribution made this week can help make sure every eligible vote is counted, help a winning campaign close out its books and help a candidate in a tight race see the process through to the end.

Moving forward means holding the people we elected to their promises. It also means finishing what we started. If you gave before the election, thank you. If you can give again, now is when it counts.
